Spoilers ahead: for the puzzle and the movies/games
This post assumes you've already solved the puzzle. It reveals all categories and their connections, and discusses plot details, endings, and spoilers for featured movies/games throughout.
Mega Man X4 turns every defeated Maverick into a new weapon or technique. The boss roster is therefore also a shopping list, with more shouting.
Games: Cool Boarders 2 · Snowboard Kids · Amped 2 · Steep
Cool Boarders 2 and Snowboard Kids arrived in 1997 with very different ideas about the slope. One chased PlayStation-era sports credibility. The other put weapons and cartoon racers on snow.
Amped 2 tied tricks to an Xbox career structure. Steep opened the Alps to snowboards, skis, wingsuits, and paragliders. Gravity remains the only opponent that never needs DLC.
Games: Mega Man X4 · Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night · Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow · Mega Man 11
Mega Man defeats a boss and takes its weapon or technique. Both X4 and Mega Man 11 use that clean loop, making every boss preview the next toy.
Bloodstained turns demon drops into shards. Dawn of Sorrow uses Tactical Souls to convert monsters into abilities. The bestiary is also a menu, which feels rude but efficient.
Games: Excite Truck · Red Steel · Wii Play · Rayman Raving Rabbids
The Wii launched in late 2006 across North America, Japan, Europe, and Australia. The day-one list changed by region, which is why this category needs the qualifier.
Red Steel sold motion-controlled swordplay. Excite Truck used tilting for off-road racing. Wii Play taught remote basics through minigames, while the Rabbids began screaming and have shown no interest in stopping.
Games: Vampire Survivors · Brotato · Halls of Torment · 20 Minutes Till Dawn
Vampire Survivors made the modern formula unavoidable: automatic attacks, dense crowds, short upgrade decisions, then a screen that looks like somebody spilled fireworks into a spreadsheet.
Brotato compresses the panic into compact arenas. Halls of Torment borrows the look of older action RPGs. 20 Minutes Till Dawn asks for manual aiming, but the escalating swarm and upgrade rhythm put it in the same family. Survival becomes a build test conducted at unsafe volume.
For another form of selective chaos, today's CineLinkr puzzle has game nights that launch houses into space.
