PixelLinkr #132: The Story Behind the Puzzle

This post assumes you've already solved the puzzle. It reveals all categories and their connections, and discusses plot details, endings, and spoilers for featured movies/games throughout.
Lost Odyssey shipped on four dual-layer DVDs for Xbox 360. The fourth disc came in a paper sleeve inside some cases because even the packaging appeared surprised by the situation.
🟢 Easy: Climb and glide through an open world
Games: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom · Immortals Fenyx Rising · Tchia · Horizon Forbidden West
Tears of the Kingdom makes height feel like money. A cliff, sky island, or improvised tower buys a longer glide, and the player spends that altitude deciding where curiosity wins next.
Immortals Fenyx Rising uses Daedalus wings, Tchia hands over a cloth glider, and Horizon Forbidden West gives Aloy the Shieldwing. The exact climbing rules differ, but the rhythm stays satisfying: work upward, look around, then jump with unreasonable confidence.
🟡 Medium: Command a squad of tiny followers
Games: Pikmin 2 · Overlord: Raising Hell · The Wild at Heart · Masters of Anima
Pikmin 2 lets Olimar direct up to one hundred Pikmin, a number that feels impressive until half of them walk into water. Overlord gives the same basic management fantasy a mean streak and color-coded minions.
The Wild at Heart calls its helpers Spritelings. Masters of Anima uses summoned Guardians for combat and puzzles. These games turn leadership into constant triage: carry that object, attack that enemy, and please stop standing under the obvious hazard.
🔵 Hard: Dragon-mounted combat
Games: Panzer Dragoon Orta · Drakengard 2 · Drakan: Order of the Flame · Crimson Dragon
Panzer Dragoon Orta and Crimson Dragon keep the rider moving through rail-shooter combat. Yukio Futatsugi worked on both projects, so Crimson Dragon's family resemblance is not an accident.
Drakengard 2 alternates ground battles with aerial missions. Drakan: Order of the Flame gives Rynn and Arokh free-flight dogfights, a big shift from the usual fantasy arrangement where a dragon appears mainly to ruin a village's afternoon.
The shared pleasure is control at speed. The dragon is mount, companion, and weapons platform. Finding a parking space remains outside the design brief.
🟣 Tricky: Originally shipped on four console discs
Games: Fear Effect · Final Fantasy IX · The Legend of Dragoon · Lost Odyssey
Fear Effect, Final Fantasy IX, and The Legend of Dragoon each filled four PlayStation CDs. Lost Odyssey repeated the feat a generation later with four Xbox 360 DVDs.
Disc swaps once created their own tiny ceremony. The screen asked for the next slab of the story, the player opened the case, and everyone hoped disc three had not migrated behind the sofa.
Ignore genre and look at the original physical object. Three PlayStation releases and one Xbox 360 epic share the same bulky number. Four discs. No symbolism. Just a lot of game.
The disc group is a reminder that storage limits used to be visible on the shelf. Today's CineLinkr puzzle also deals with difficult journeys, though its stranded travelers would gladly trade problems with a scratched CD.
