Spoilers ahead: for the puzzle and the movies/games
This post assumes you've already solved the puzzle. It reveals all categories and their connections, and discusses plot details, endings, and spoilers for featured movies/games throughout.
Magicka 2 lets wizards combine elements, cross beams, and accidentally remove their friends from the immediate area. Friendly fire is always on. Cooperation begins with accepting that the healer may also be the weather event that killed you.
Games: The First Descendant · Borderlands 2 · Warframe · Remnant II
Borderlands 2 turned weapon abundance into slapstick. Guns spill out with different parts, stats, manufacturers, and varying respect for common sense. The First Descendant follows the shared-world model, pairing character abilities with repeated hunts for equipment.
Warframe has been expanding since 2013, adding frames, quests, weapons, and regions around its cooperative missions. Remnant II sends small teams through rearranged worlds where a new ring can derail a perfectly sensible build for the rest of the evening.
The loop is social and acquisitive: shoot together, compare drops, discover that somebody else got the useful item, repeat.
Games: Genshin Impact · Divinity: Original Sin · Magicka 2 · BioShock Infinite
Genshin Impact names reactions such as Vaporize and Superconduct, making party order part of the damage calculation. Divinity: Original Sin turns the battlefield into a chemistry set where oil, fire, water, poison, and electricity rarely remain in their assigned containers.
Magicka 2 lets players assemble spells from elemental inputs in real time. BioShock Infinite rewards combinations between Vigors, including setting up one power and detonating its effect with another.
Single powers only start the job. Fire meeting the wet, oily, frozen, or airborne thing already on the field is where the system starts grinning.
Games: Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord · Valkyria Chronicles 4 · Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising · Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord lets a commander arrange formations, issue orders, and then ride into the crush with everyone else. The map-scale plan can disappear quickly once a horse, a hill, and several arrows offer their own feedback.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 moves between an overhead command view and direct control of individual soldiers. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter put squad orders into military shooters, so the player has to think about where the team goes while remaining one vulnerable body on the field.
That last detail matters. These are not distant generals moving anonymous counters. The commander shares the danger and may have to rescue a plan personally.
Strategy and execution occupy the same pair of hands. Give a smart order, take a terrible position, and learn which part of the job description the enemy respects.
Games: Half-Life: Blue Shift · Half-Life: Opposing Force · Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony · Resident Evil Outbreak
Blue Shift follows security guard Barney Calhoun through the Black Mesa disaster. Opposing Force sends marine Adrian Shephard into the same catastrophe, where Gordon Freeman is no longer the center of every corridor.
The Ballad of Gay Tony revisits Liberty City through Luis Lopez and crosses events from Grand Theft Auto IV and The Lost and Damned. Resident Evil Outbreak follows ordinary survivors trying to escape Raccoon City during the outbreak surrounding Resident Evil 2 and 3.
The clocks match a larger story already in progress. Familiar disasters continue offscreen while somebody else handles a different emergency nearby.
That overlap gives side stories their charge. A place that once felt built around one hero becomes crowded with people who had awful days of their own.
The overlapping timeline is my favorite connection because it makes a known world feel larger without moving the calendar forward. If parallel stories are your weakness, CineLinkr has another daily set of plots waiting to be untangled.
